The process of obtaining the services and placement your child needs can be overwhelming. We offer guidance and coaching through all aspects of the educational process, from initial referral, evaluative process and a program and placement that meets your child’s needs so he/she may obtain progress. Importantly, we will work to ensure you understand the process, feel supported and are empowered to be your child’s voice at district meetings.

If you are unable to come to an agreement with your CPSE or CSE, then bringing an impartial hearing may be the next step. An impartial hearing involves litigation in an administrative tribunal with an impartial hearing officer who presides over the matter. Impartial hearings are initiated by the filing of a due process complaint and may involve motion practice and witnesses.

Children with disabilities, or suspected disabilities, ages 0-3 years old are entitled to be appropriately evaluated and, if needed, Early Intervention services such as special instruction, applied behavior analysis (ABA), speech language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling/play therapy, parent counseling and more in home or in their daycare/school. We can walk you through this process and ensure your child receives everything he/she is entitled to as soon as possible.

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act protects individuals, including children, from discrimination due to their disabilities. Children with certain impairments may be entitled to a 504 Plan to enable them to access their education. Section 504 Plans are individualized to each student and may include support, such as reasonable accommodations and modifications but are different from IEPs.

If your child has missed his/her related services, such as 1:1 Special Education Itinerant Teacher services (SEIT), Special Educational Teacher Support Services (SETSS), occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, counseling, then he/she may be entitled to compensatory hours. Additionally, if your child should have received services and missed the opportunity to receive them due to a school district’s failure to provide them, he/she may be entitled for compensatory services as well.
